smartcrowds provides a powerful set of features for reporting and data exploration using an embedded version of Microsoft PowerBI.

For PULSE Survey reporting, all reports can be found under the 'Reports' main menu option.

Two report sets are available:

  • Pulse: a set of reports that have been designed for advanced data exploration

  • Pulse Report Pack: a standard set of report formats that have been designed for ease of presentation directly to an audience or via copy into an external slide set.

Both sets are explained further below, followed by a general description of the embedded PowerBI reporting interface,

Reports > Pulse

To access the Pulse data exploration reports, click on the Reports->Pulse menu option.

The following screen will be displayed:

The left hand menu categorises the available reports into appropriate groupings as follows:

  • Overview: contains a set of reports pages covering high level dashboards, trends and intra-day analysis

  • Kiosk Pulse: contains a set of reports for exploring results from Pulse Kiosk surveys.

  • User Pulse: contains a set of reports for exploring results from Pulse User surveys (i.e. surveys that users have responded to on their own devices).

  • Crowd Pulse: As above, but with additional categorisation by the smartcrowds Crowds that users are members of.

  • Department Pulse: As above, but with categorisation by the Departmetns that users are assigned into within smartcrowds.

  • Custom Field Pulse: As above, but with categorisation by the custom fields that your smartcrowds administrator may have configured for your company (for example Age Group, Length of Service, Gender etc).

  • Response Set Spotlight: A set of reports specific to each response type - for example Emoticons, Thumbs Up/Down etc.

  • Scores and Trends: A set of reports that focus on the scores (1-5) from each survey question, and trends for that scoring.

  • Custom Field Trends: A set of reports that focus on the scoring trends with further categorisation be custom fields that your smartcrowds administrator may have configured for your company.

Live vs Closed

Many of of the Pulse Reports are presented with 2 options - Live, and Closed.

Live show results for Pulse Questions that are live at the time of running the report.

Closed show results for Pulse Questions that are no longer live (i.e. the end date/time of the Question has now passed.

Selecting Questions

In all reports, a number of filter fields are available at the top of the report to help you choose the Pulse Question(s) that you are interested in:

These will normally include:

  • Question: the Pulse Question(s) that you are interested in.

  • Crowd: the Crowds(s) that the Questions have been asked in

  • Status: the status of Question - Live or Closed

  • Type: the type of Question, for example Emoticons, Thumbs Up/Down, Custom etc.

Depending on the report you have selected, other filter fields may also be available.

To get to your exact requirements, choose the relevant filter options. Multi-select is available for all options using CTRL-Click. Report results are immediately refreshed on each selection made.

Returning to the Main Reports Manu

In all reports, the blue back icon (highlighted below) inside the report page will take you back to the main report menu page.

TIP - Try not to use the Browser back button - this will take you out of the report pages completely!
