In smartcrowds, all activity that's been added by everyone - new ideas, idea assessments. plans for change, actions, and outcomes that have achieved - contributes towards the Activity Feed.
The Activity Feed (which we refer to simply as Feed) therefore makes a great place to browse the latest work that is being done across your organisation to turn great ideas into positive change and real-life projects.
Your Feed is unique to you - it is based on your unique crowd membership, so don't be surprised if you see different things on your Feed than the person sitting next to you!
Accessing Your Feed
To access your Feed, tap on the Feed menu option on the main menu bar. You'll see the following sub-menu.
The options are as follows:
Items - the "things" that people have submitted - for example Ideas, Proposals, Suggestions etc. We call them Items in this menu, because your organisation will normally have chosen one or more specific labels for these that best meets it's needs.
Assessments - the evaluations that have been recorded for submitted ideas. These will have been recorded normally by people with subject matter experience in your organisation. Note that not all ideas will necessarily end up with an assessment - this will depend on the process that your organisation adopts.
Plans - the things that your organisaton is doing to move an idea forward. This might be an exploration plan (a deeper dive into the feasibility, viability or some other unknown aspect of the idea), or an implementation plan (the work that will be done to turn the idea into a change, or new product or service).
Actions - specific pieces of work that have been assigned to people to make a Plan happen.
Outcomes - the end-point of a Plan, telling you what has been achieved - hopefully positive, but bear in mind that lots can be learned from outcomes of work that didn't quite work out too!
When you choose one of the options, you'll see a Feed page that looks like the example below (we've used the Items option in this example)
The latest activity is shown at the top of the feed, so you can scroll down to see older activity. You'll see about 10 entries before a Load More option appears.
Each activity is displayed in its own panel (below) which you can interact with in the following ways:
Add a reaction - tap the thumbs up or thumbs down icon
Add a rating - tap the star rating
Read more - the text for the idea may be shortened, so you can tap read more to read the full details
Read/Add a Comment - Choose the expand button to add a comment, or read existing comments that have been added.
Access the idea - tap on the blue "Idea" link (or the alternative label that your organisation has used) to open the full idea page.
Filtering your Feed
By default, your Feed will show information from All Crowds, and Groups (Idea Challenges etc) within those Crowds. If you just want to see a limited set of activity updates, you can easily filter the information using the panel at the right-hand side of the page (example below).
To select a Group, tap the check box at the right-hand side of any Group. You can multi-select groups if you like.
To select a Crowd, tap the View Crowds option - you'll see a panel similar to the one below:
By default, All Crowds is selected, but you can choose a Category (in the above example "1. All Company Improvement and Transformation" is a Category) to select all of the Crowds in that Category, or you can choose a single Crowd (for example, "Continuous Improvement").
You can also choose View Filters to access further filter options.
Activities Tab Bar
When you're on the Feed Page, you don't need to go back to the main menu to see Assessment, Plan, Action or Outcome Activities. You can stay on the page and use the tabbed area at the top of the feed to jump easily between these.
And that's it for the Activity Feed! If you used other social media platforms, you should find Feed easy to use to find out what is going on across your organisation.
